Summer Sale- January 31st 2008

AFTER its first successful Spring Sale in September last year the Diamond Tree Angus stud is now gearing up for its 12th annual summer production sale.

The on-property sale near Manjimup will be held on Thursday, January 31 commencing at 1pm and once again the Gandy family will have an exceptional line-up of quality Angus bulls on offer.

On offer in the sale will be 50 rising two-year-old bulls, 100 PTIC commercial Angus heifers and 30 unmated yearling purebred Angus heifers.

In the bull line-up the stud will feature the genetics of Hyline Right Time 338 and SCA 3299 of Ideal, both of which are exclusive to the stud in WA.

Stud principal Kim Gandy said as a sire, Hyline Right Time 338 had passed all expectations in his growth and carcase performance. The eight sons on offer in this sale average 70 kg above the rest of the group at 600 days.

“The Hyline sons on offer in the sale are magnificent bulls and are breeding true,” Mr Gandy said.

“Their 600 day weight and scrotal size EBVs are in the top 5pc of the breed while their 200 day, 400 day and carcase weight EBVs are in the top 10pc of the breed.

A 338 yearling son topped the stud’s Spring Sale selling for $10 000. Mr Gandy said all 14 daughters the stud has on the ground from 338 have been retained in the herd and all are PTIC.

The other exclusive sire to the stud SCA 3299 of Ideal is an outcross sire from Canada.

Mr Gandy said his sons are outstanding and we achieved a total clearance of the yearling bulls offered in our 2007 Spring Sale.

“His female progeny are also well-grown and very feminine, having good udders, feet and legs and are exceptionally quiet,” Mr Gandy said.

Another sire represented in the team is New Frontier 095.

At the stud’s Summer Sale in 2007, New Frontier sons averaged $6 900 and Diamond Tree Frontier A98 sold privately for $20 000.

Mr Gandy said the New Frontier sons have tremendous growth, quiet temperament and above average carcase traits.

All the female progeny by New Frontier 095 have been retained in the stud and have not had any calving problems.

They are all back in calf and continuing to perform well.

Another sire represented in the sale team is Diamond Tree Lead On Z7, who is perfectly put together and very pleasing to the eye.

Mr Gandy said this bull's strengths are his good temperament, moderate birth weight, high growth, eye muscle area and a retail beef yield in the top 5pc of the breed.

Other sires represented at the sale include Vermilion Dateline 7078, SAV Front Runner 0713, Diamond Tree Yellowstone Y32 and White Lakes Ultravox W26.

Diamond Tree Angus is now having

two bull sales per year

35 Bulls – Spring Sale, 5th September 2007

60 Bulls – Summer Sale, February 2008

Both sales will feature top quality bulls

Advantages of the spring sale include early access to new genetics, sale timing to accommodate cattle breeders and the opportunity to buy a younger bull in working condition.

This inaugural spring sale will be held on-property, Wednesday, September 5 at 1:00 pm with lunch and refreshments provided.

With the growth of the Stud we are now able to offer a larger number of exceptional quality bulls. This year we feature WA exclusive genetics Hyline Right Time 338 and
SCA 3299 of Ideal which will be represented at both sales. Other AI genetics available include New Frontier 095 sons which were top sellers this past February and well grown Vermillion Dateline 7078 sons. Also on offer are impressive sons of homebred sires Lead On Z7, top producing sire Yellowstone Y32, Modest Z51, Ultravox Z80.

The bulls for both sales have been scanned and structurally assessed as one group and a full catalogue will be mailed out for the spring sale. With the help of the Breedplan figures the bulls were selected for one of the two sales to ensure an even spread of genetics, and a range of traits to suit all breeding programs.
